Sir,

According to your directions was blooded on the 6.th and
again on the 14.th have taken regularly the Medicines you ordered. and have
lived entirely on Milk and Vegetables; but am sorry to observe that I
find no alteration in my heatsat night. and in the morning my tongue
is quite parched and white, with a bad taste in my mouth. indeed I
have a feverishness that hangs about me all day. tho' am always cooller
out of bed -------- The inflammation on the nut of my yard had
returned to a great degree, with a pain and heat in making water,
and I have such pains in my stones that I can walk but little,
and from my present feelings am affraid it will be sometime before
I can go on horseback. I imputed the return of the great inflammation
in the nut of my yard and pain in my stones to walking too much
about 10 days ago which I was tempted to by a very fine day, but
as it continues so long and no appearance of an alteration, probably
am mistaken in the cause --------- I cannott help being uneasy
about my situation, and hope to have your opinion fully, with
what further instructions you judge necessary ---- I wish in a
fourthnight to Visit a friend in the Country for six weeks. Do
you approve of it, and how should I regulate myself in Exercise,
and Diet? ---- Do you approve of my drinking Tea, or would soft eggs
be hurtful? ---- Some of my friends say they have found great benefit
by using "Velno's Vegetable Syrup" I wish your opinion -- I forgot to

[Page 2]

mention that I am frequently troubled with a pain in my back, and
after making water my yard dribbles for a long time little drops [aleaking?]
so as to wet my thirst very much ---- youll be so good as direct
"to the Care of Mr William Crawfurd Merchant" I am respectfully

Sir,
the most obliged
David Russel
