Dear Sir

I hope youl Excuse the Trouble I am now going to give you
about 3 Weeks ago or better I wrote in my Case to Dr Cullen but
as yet have received no answer, which makes me apprehensive that Either
his or my letter has miscarry'd, as there has been severall Complaints
of that Kind, the Doctor Told me that when I had any thing new, to
Inform him of it & I might depend upon his Best advice, now
what I would Beg of you to do for me is to go to Mr Cullens & Enquire
whether he received my Letter & whether he has or has not to Read him
my Present Case which you have as under, & ask his Opinion
Concerning me, if he thinks it in the least necessary to ride in
to Edinburgh Ill sett of Immediately youl very much oblige me if youl
be particular in asking if he thinks my Lungs is affected or not
now Friend {illeg} 1 if you will be Honest & Tell me the Drs
Sentiments whether good or bad youl Lay a Lasting
obligation upon

Sir your very obedient Servant
Robert Chisholm

My Tongue still Continues Remarkably Foul
at night a Constant Beating in my head.
My Leggs & Feet swells a little at night & falls in the morning;
at Times a Heavyness over my Eyes

Likewise little Heats over my Arms particularly my left
the White of my Eyes Remarkably Cloudy & thick
I Bring up a great Deal of Fleghm & sometimes mixt
with a Little Blood

& Frequently mixt with Black as tho it was a Black thread in it
Within this 3 Weeks Ive been short of Breath
I Frequently Flush out at the Breast &c but always
goes in again, I Flush much out in the Face &c Keeps [out?],
Within my Breast I have ↑at Times↑ as tho a man Hand was there
& Pinching something between his Finger & Thumb &
Frequently as tho he was Twirling my Lungs Round
his Fingers

In the Morning I sometimes have a sweat but
Generaly Coldish & not of that thin Warm Nature I Cou'd Wish
& Lastly a continuall Wasting in Body
