Daughter of John Murray of Philiphaugh, Mary married Sir Alexander Don of Newton Don circa 1750. He died in 1776. She was one of the Lady Directresses of the Edinburgh Assemblies, and was the last person in the city to use a sedan chair. She died at home in George Square, Edinburgh, on 14 Dec 1815, in her 92nd year. |
