Notes
First child of John Dempster of Dunnichen by his first wife, Isabel Ogilvie of Balfour. Elder sister of George Dempster. George refers to her being ill in May 1764; she died in November that year from consumption (a disease which killed a number of the Dempster siblings). See George's biographies: Lang, 'A Life of George Dempster' (1998) and Evans, 'The Gentleman Usher' (2005) (Evans, p. 68 on her death). Peggie's illness had caused George to return early from his Grand Tour a few years previously. |
