Cholera

'Disease characterized by severe diarrhoea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps, typically occurring in the summer; gastro-enteritis, enterocolitis, or dysentery (probably bacterial origin)' (OED ). The material in this archive predates the discovery of the bacterium Vibrio cholerae.
