Dear Sir

My Son who is a Cornet in Lord
Robt. Manner.s Regiment of Dragoons &
now at Kilmarnock writes me yesterday

That being at Hull last Winter upon leave
he was there attack'd with a [Dyarrehea?] (↑Purging↑) or looseness
which was a Disorder stirring ↑& gave him much Pain↑ but of which he got well
again, ↑by advice of Dr Chambers there ––↑ and continued so for some time, that
however it has made frequent Returns upon him
and is now very troublesome

May I therefore beg the favor of your
sending me your directions with your first
Convenience what it is proper he should take
by way of medcine to correct this Complaint
& what Regimen he shou'd pursue to bar any
return of it –– I advis'd him to take Rhubarb &
Magnesia mix'd in small Doses which probably you
will approve of, at least however (↑or that some other↑) more efficacious
prescription will be given him.

I am Dear Sir
your most [humble?] servant
