Thought to be Major James Agnew of Howlish Hall, Co. Durham. He was the son of Sir James Agnew of Lochnaw, 4th Bt. and Lady Mary Montgomerie. He was Major in Queen’s Own Regiment of Dragoons. His eldest son, who succeeded him at Howlish, was killed at Germantown, Pennsylvania, in 1777. |
