Dear Willie
nairn January 16th 1774


Doctor Forbes wrote you by the Wednesdy
post to get Dr Cullens Opinion with regard to Maddies Stomach
complaint, since he wrote you it plainly appears her disorder
in the Stomach attacks her every second night about one of
the morning and continues till six much paind, this day she
has been much out of order very low Spirited and keeps her
bed, if she turns out any ways easier Mr Forbes proposes a
Gentle Vomit at night & to morrow morning to try a Course
of the Bark he wants this should be shown Doctor Cullen
to know how far this method is proper She has got regular
passage after Andersons pills which she has taken regularly
for some nights past but that not answering this day she
is to get an Injection, she has hither to kept free of any
degree of a fever and her Stomach very indifferent for meat
we beg you may not lose any time in returning an Answer
