For Mr Cook of Gallowhill

Take two scruples of Camphor and one scruple os Salts of Nitre. Having cast in several drops of Rectified Spirit of Wine, rub it into a powder, to which add one and a half drachms of the best Asafœtida, a half-ounce of ground Ginger and enough Gum Arabic Paste to make a mass to be divided into pills of five grains each. Label: Expectorating pills, three to be taken every night at bedtime.

Take three ounces of the best Castor Oil and one ounce of the Edinburgh Pharmacopœia's Senna Tincture. Mix. Label: Laxative Oil; a spoonful to be taken for a dose when occasion requires, shaken the vial always very well before pouring out.
