Cullen concludes by asking Baylie to present his compliments to Mr Ewart, and saying that 'I lament extremely the death of my Coeval the late King of Prussia, but I hope you shall not miss the esteem of his successor'; Frederick II, Frederick the Great, had died earlier in 1786.
