Take two drachms of Gum Guaiac, and three drachms of the purest white sugar. Crush them together into a fine powder, to which add three ounces of raw Mucilage of Gum Arabic. Crush diligently again, and while it is crushed, little by little, pour in half-an-ounce of volatile Elixir of Guaiac, one ounce of Tincture of Senna as prescribed in the Pharmacopœia Edinburgensis ¹ , two-and-a-half ounces of Simple Cinnamon Water and two and half-an-ounce of peppermint Water. Mix. Label: Diaphoretic Solution a tablespoon to be taken every night at bed time taking care to Shake the Phial very well before pouring out.
