Miss Renton
Sir
I was prevented from answering your former letter
{illeg} I wished, but I did at length on Monday last
and I hope it will in a great measure serve for an
answer to the one I received last night and which
Mr. Allan delivered with his own hand.
I think the Case is too far advanced to be much
relieved by bleeding though I cannot blame your
attempt to relieve her in that way. If the pains
extending from her breast to side should at any
time be fixed and urgent a blister upon the part
is the only remedy that can give relief. For her hot
fits and sweatings the acid mixture I prescribed in
my letter of Monday is the only remedy that I can
promise upon. If it does not answer let me know
and in the mean time let Mr. and Mrs. Renton
know that I feel their distress very much for the
[Page 2]
danger of {illeg} Daughter and {illeg}
no trouble in giving her every relief in any {illeg}
it is a most difficult matters [White?] however on {illeg}
as possible. With Compliments and best wishes
to the family I am
