Mr Duguid
Dear Sir,

I have seen here your patient Mr. Duguid
who has got a bony excrescence on one of his Shins
and has desired my opinion and advice upon it.

I doubt it it is possible to discuss it but at
the same time I hope it is such a matter as will
never give him any trouble. In this latter opinion
however I dare not say I am absolutely certain for
Mr. Duguid was formerly Siphylitic and whe (↑how↑) long
something of this may remain in the System we
are not absolutely certain. I think it therefore my
duty to give you notice of this and to desire you will
watch over him and observe if any other Siphylitic
symptom should appear
. In the mean time I have
only to propose to Bathe the part every night with
perfectly Neutral spirituous Mindereri to wear a piece
of thin flannel constantly over it and to take care to se¬
cure it against all external injury.

I am most sincerely
and affectionately Dear Robert yours &c.
