Dr Brodie Concerning Miss Jane Innes.

Two ailments to be considered --- The one on old habi¬
tual Cough for which I was advised long ago & am now
persuaded of what I said then, that I judged the Cough to
be Catarrhal rather than Phthisical - I joined in your advice
in advising sometimes your Expectorant Mixture and
sometimes a Paregoric with the more constant use of the
Decoction of Tussilago and a proper Regimen; but it
appears that nothing has been of service to her and
I believe that nothing will be of service to her Cough
except Opiates given in pretty large Doses; but this to
your discretion

As to the suspicion of worms, I think it is likely --
If there be it must be a Tænia which can only be avoided
by very drastic Medicines which I think her constitution very
unfit it for -- If you find grounds for the Suspicion I think
you may safely prescribe the Tin Powder which f will fill
up the Time till I hear from you again
