For Mr Rey


In his present Situation nothing better thean than the Bark
& it is extremely necessary, as those black [Esetions?] he has been
liable to & may be expected at present are certainly a tendency
to Mortification. In such a torpid habit, proper to join some
Serpentaria - The formula below. - This I hope will carry
of the with safety the present attack & we are next to prevent
a return -- Cold Bath may be usefull - but he must not
try it in his ow situation nor at this Season - but about
the beginning of Summer, he should certainly try it again
continue it thro the Summer & even thro the Winter


After the present complaints are removed, he should
entir on the Decoction Lignor Ph. Ed. & continue it for a month
or two in the Spring, I know nothing more effectual for eva¬
cuating gouty humour which I think is here present --


But he must eat less & use more exercise &--


For Mr Rey --------

Take two drachms Extract of Liquorice, [in pieces?], [made?] a little fennel water as [mollt?] extract and grind the pulp which {illeg} three drachms of Powdered Peruvian Bark one drachm of powdered root of Serpentiana Virginiana, acts well under {illeg} spring Water to eight ounces. Label: Bark Mixture three spoonfuls [four times a day?]
