[ID:3319] From: Mr Baillie (of Dochfour) / To: Professor Alexander Monro (secundus; Munro ) / Regarding: Mrs Baillie (of Dochfour) (Patient) / 22 March 1788 / (Incoming)

Letter from Mr. Baillie, jointly to Cullen and Alexander Monro, concerning his wife's epilepsy. She has had more severe fits, and they are now coming at times when she was previously free of them. He encloses another journal paper, and wishes to arrange a meeting with the doctors at Dunn's Hotel, presumably where he and his wife are staying in Edinburgh. The letter is prefaced by a note by Monro, forwarding it to Cullen and arranging their meeting with the Baillies at their hotel the following day.

Mr Baillie presents respectfull Compliments to Doctors Cullen and Monro,
He incloses for their Perusal a continuation of the Journal respecting Mrs.
Baillies Case, by which they will observe how few slight fitts She has had
from the 20th. February to the 20th. Instant. & That the severe ones are more
frequent –– Mr. Baillie was in Great hopes that they would diminish, &
on the whole thought her better, until Yesterday, which they will observe
by the Journal was an uncommonly severe day on her - One severe
fitt
& 5 Severe slight ones in 24 hours –– & this happened the day after
Menstruation appeared, which used to be the Period that She was altogether
↑free of these fitts for at least the three first days - so that they appear to have changed
considerably ––

Mr. Baillie gave her the Nervous Strengthening Pills & Tincture
