The Consultation Letters of Dr William Cullen (1710-1790) at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh
[ID:2996] From: Mr William Farquharson / To: Dr William Cullen (Professor Cullen) / Regarding: Mrs Janet Moodie (Love) (Moody) (Patient) / 7 March 1787 / (Incoming)
Letter from William Farquharson, concerning the case of Mrs Moody, a newly-married woman of 20, 'of a delicate habit'. Six months previously, she had been advised by an acquaintance 'to use Spilsbury's drops for an eruption on her hands'. Since then, she has caught cold twice – returning from a dance, and after her wedding. She has now become seriously ill with a cough, spitting, and painful inflammation on the chest. Her menses are also obstructed, but she is not pregnant.
