Sir

On the tenth of February last I
consulted you upon the state of my health at
that time, and you then prescribed a Box of
strengthening Pills
, the last of which I took a few
days ago –– They were taken in doses of three and
four at each time, and remained on my Stomach
without inconvenience –– I am already sensible
of two happy effects produced by this medicine ––

My spirits are less hurried, and those unnatural
heats
and chilly fits, with which I have been long
afflicted, are abating very perceptibly ––––

The Nocturnal Emissions continued as usual
til about a month ago, about which time I heard
by accident that people sleeping upon their back
were subject to these discharges, therefore knowing
that I lay oftner in that position than any other
I discontinued the practice, and now mostly lay
upon my right side, to which and your

[Page 2]

your medicine I attribute my having ↑had↑ only one
return within the last twenty Eight days ––

The Seminal Weakness continues, yet I
think in a smaller degree than usual –– my
appetite is good, and the calls of nature perfectly
regular; yet with every appearance of health, and
without any pain, I feel the nervous system
feeble and languid, and to have lost much
of that elasticity which most people possess at
my years –– I am apprehensive I forgot to
mention to you that I feel a dryness and Rigidity
of
the skin which you possibly may be able to
remove in your next prescription –– Since I
did myself the pleasure to consult you I have
abstained intirely from the use of any strong or
inflammatory Liquor, or heavy suppers, or Riding
on Horseback, having confined my exercise mostly
to walking, which agrees with me very well, but
when continued too long at once, it leaves an aching
in
the soals of my feet –––– Having discribed
to you the nature of my feelings as well as

[Page 3]

I am able, your Judgment will supply the
rest, and I must request the favor of you to
send a new prescription /if necessary/ with any
advice you may think necessary for my future
government –––– Be pleased to direct to me
at Wigton near Carlisle Cumberland, and not
to omit my Christian name in the Superscription
as their are others of my Sirname living here

I am, Sir Your very obedient humble servant
John Westmorland
