[ID:2297] From: Dr Alexander Stevenson (Professor; of Dalgairn ) / To: Dr William Cullen (Professor Cullen) / Regarding: Mr John Glassford (of Dougalston) (Patient), Mr Robert Barclay (Patient) / 8 August 1783 / (Incoming)

Letter from Alexander Stevenson, concerning the case of Mr Glassford, who goes between Dougalston and Glasgow every few days. Dear Dr,

I looked for something from you
to day in consequence of my two last Letters
about Mr. Glassford – it is probable I shall
have it tomorrow, but as there is no post from
hence till Sunday, I remind you by this.

I have little to add but that the Despon¬
dency
exceeds beleif. His aversion to food
insuperable
. He goes to Dougaldston one day
& comes here the next. Some days He does
not spout much up
, but still is not nourished.
I have not seen him to day; he is at Dougalston:
nor have I for some days examined the Epigastric
region
. He begs to be excused from the bitter
Tincture
, & with difficulty takes the Acid & the
Seltzer
. Pulse the same. Little thirst.

I am so little hopefull from internal remedies ↑so taken↑
that I have thought of the warm semicupium
or Bath – But you have all the data be¬
fore you & I expect to hear from you. I am

Dear Dr your most humble Servant
A. Stevenson
