In pursuance of my promise to inform you how
I am going on, I returnd not the worse for my Journey,
and after taking my Harrowgate water as you orderd,
I got a very great cold, how, I know not, but believe
from the uncertain Weather that we have had - I desisted
untill the cold left me, and have begun again I have
no Oportunity in taking my exercise, but My Legs
have as I think Inflamed more than heretofore --
I have an Inclination to put an Issue in my
Arm or Leg if you have no Objection, I think it
can do little harm if it does no good, I think I have
heard of a kind of Issue Plasters that keep on without
any Bandage, if you approve and any of those
to be had in Edinburgh, I could wish you would
desire our Friend Mr Maxwell to send me some by
the Fly I persevere in my way of living, My Flesh
[Page 2]
Used to be firm but I think I am relaxed and it
is grown Flabby, I am Dear Sir
Your Most Obedient
and Obliged humble Servant
