Sir-

It is now a fortnight since I had the pleasure
of seeing you, and as you was so good as desire to
hear from me at that period, I am to inform you-,
That I have followed your prescriptions in the most
exact manner, and am sorry to find, I am upon-
the whole just in the situation- I left you, ---

The seton in my back is doing very well. The pills
have there proper effect; & all my medicines agree with
my stomach - But my left leg is still so insensible,
(that at times) I hardly feel when I touch any object
with it, & the right leg is fully as week as ever I
have found it -- The Electrifying machine I have got
Tho' it gives a severe shock to the arm when any per¬
son receives it at that part, Is yet so week, as to be
little felt at my knees - The Instrument at St. Andrews
gave me a Shock vastly stronger-- I ride on horse¬
back, or in a Chaise regularly twice a day --

[Page 2]

But the whole trunk of my body is in such a frail state,
that I dare hardly strick a trot on horseback, and it
still continues to hurt my rest in the night time --

It is at Doctor Goodsirs desire I write this, who letts me
it is necessary I should describe my own feelings -

He likewise is to write you at this time, & has or¬
dered me to continue the mustard, rubing, & pills when
necessary, till we have the pleasure of hearing from you.

I am Sir With the greatist respect
Your Most Obedient Humble Servant
William Henderson--
