This Day Fortnight I had the Felicity to
acquaint Doctor Cullen. – My Son was Better, since which time
the Eruption is Broke out, and I think, worse than Ever, as it is on
one side of his Body, which I am very apprehensive off
on account of its Touching his stomach, and that Being productive
of any Bad Concequences – The Inflamation has Reacht under
Both arms, and neck so continually wett, with the Discharge
which is very Great
, that I am at a loss, what to do to keep him
Tolerably Easy – His Head and face is Better ––

I Give him some of the Bottle Every Morning and Night with
which he often vomits and the powders once a week, as you orderd
I shall not attempt to apologize Sir for troubling you with these
lines as you Expresst when at Edinburgh such Tenderness for the
mother in the like Case, my feelings for my dear Infant in his
present situation are very Great – particularly as what I administer
does not seem to Give him that Releif I wish – He is washt
twice a day with warm milk and water – I think to try what
Weaning him will do, he has not had the Breast in the day, this
fortnight – Should be obligd by your sentiments Doctor –
of Inoculation for him or if change of air or Bathing would

[Page 2]

Be Advisable. He hasn had a Great Cold & Cough
which is now, thank God Better

I remain Sir your obedient Servant
