State of Mr MacCulloch of Glastolich

Aged about 60 – Very tall, sanguine, & lately corpulent, –
A hearty feeder, & for ----- years a deep Drinker; but not a daily
tippler, not slothful.

Since Summer last has had languid painful feelings in the lower
belly & loins, seldom smart, or fixed for 2 days at a time; sometimes
inward, as if in the Intestines, sometimes more outward.

In October November & December he fell off to very Leanness, without any grie¬
vous complaint or notable loss of appetite.

Since December he often has annoying heat in his ancles, mostly in the mor¬
ning, which often terminate in Sweat: Till middle of January his appetite
languid
, & a slight swelling of the ancles at even; – sometimes obstinate
Costiveness.

Since middle of January he has been on horseback, as weather allowed; has
lived mostly on white meats, vegetables & whey; a little malaga, with water
or {illeg}, after meals: has had Resolving and Inciding medecins; squil
pills
& Elixir Vitriol -- His appetite & Digestion are better, Colour &
vigour much restored: But still remains an irksome feeling in the
belly, sometimes inward, sometimes more outward; sometimes, for
days, in the left groin, sometimes toward the loins, just above the
{illeg}-bone; sometimes in a point, sometimes widely extended.
