To Mr Hector Mlean concerning Mr Stuart


1. The belly to be kept open by Soluble Tartar & failing that by Glyzters
& Suppositories or if necessity requires by Infusion [Sena?], Pil. Aloetico &c ------


2. Obstruction to be resolved & Acidity corrected by Absorbent Solution
(i. e. Lixivium caustic
taken to 30 or 40 drops in Jusculum pulli {illeg} three
times a day.


3. If acidity not corrected by that the Absorbent powders may be employed


4. For pains vomiting & Hiccough Opium but rather Extractus Hyosci¬
ami (Anodyne extract)


5. If the Hiccough obstinate Musk from 10 to 20 grains. -------


6. For vomiting a Theriac plaister, or Laudanum by Glyster


7. Drink Beef Tea, Toast Water or this with a little Spirits


8. Diet light or Mild, plain Meat, boiled white Fish or any kind
of Grain. Milk if digested.
