Letter from Dr Thomas Yorstoun [Yerstoun] at Waterside, Dumfries, addressed to Walter Riddell at (Friars') Carse, regarding the case of his friend Mr Kennedy whose condition has worsened to include several fits 'w[ith] all the symptoms of Epilepsy'. He traces the condition back to a sore on Mr Kennedy's head, and refers to his treatment with a seton. 24 June 1775

Reply with directions for Mr Kennedy regarding his epilepsy almost certainly addressed to Dr Thomas Yorstoun. Cullen recommends exercise, a seton, and one medicine - cuprum ammoniacum - of which, since it is not yet common 'in the country', a small parcel from 'the dispensatory' will be sent along with Kennedy.9 July 1775

Letter from Dr Thomas Yorstoun regarding Mr Kennedy's progress since he has been under Cullen's directions, in reply to Cullen's request for further particulars of the case. The treatment with Ammoniacal Copper has been successful in reducing the frequncy and severity of his epileptic fits and he 'became much more mild & tractable in his temper'. The seton is discharging plentifully.21 August 1775
