Letter from William Lyall, a youth of almost 19 in Glasgow, troubled by nocturnal emissions which he ascribes to 'the shamefull custom of manstupration' prevalent when he was at school. He asks that a reply be sent c/o Hardie, Millar & Co. (wholesale linen drapers in Bell's Wynd – possibly his employers?).
